The Oregon Council of Rock and Mineral Clubs conducts three meetings per year, during the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons. The actual date of the meeting typically coincides with an affiliated club's rock show.

Each year, at the Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show, the OCRMC conducts the Oregon Council Trophy Competition. This competition is open to all Oregon Clubs, Oregon Club Members, or Oregon Club Junior members, regardless of whether or not their club is a member of the Oregon Council.
Competitors enter their exhibit in the competition. Judges appraise each exhibit's public appeal, quality of workmanship, showmanship, labeling, and variety of material. The competitor with the best exhibit is awarded the Oregon Council Perpectual Clock Trophy.
In 2004, the trophy was won by Elvin Irwin of Vance, Washington.

The Capitol Showcase was established in December 1982. Since that time it has served as the showcase for displaying the wide variety of beautiful rocks, minerals, and gemstones that come form the state of Oregon. Any rock & mineral club that is affiliated with the Oregon Council of Rock and Mineral Clubs can use the case to show their work.
