On Friday, December 10, 1982, Ted Jackson, then President of the Oregon Council of Rock and Mineral Clubs and member of the Rogue Gem and Geology Club (Grants Pass), officially presented a handsome showcase to the state of Oregon. The purpose of this showcase is to display the wide variety of beautiful rocks, minerals, and gemstones that come form the state of Oregon.
Since that time the member clubs of the OCRMC have rotated the display.
The current display in the Capitol Case is being exhibited by the Roxy Ann Gem & Mineral Society, from Central Point, Oregon. This display is scheduled to continue through May of 2009.
The showcase can be viewed Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you can't make it to Salem, here's a few pictures of the current showcase display:
